Business Of The Month, Newsworthy
Brian and Moira McCue are the owners of Spirit of Texas Winery. They were married right after college. Within that first year of marriage, Moira started teaching and they had their first son, Ben. About 4 years later their second son Conrad was born. Moira taught for over 30 years in several different districts throughout the state of Texas. Brian’s work led them from Houston, to Lubbock and finally to Round Rock. After working for more than 30 years apart, they decided to work together. In 2016, Moira retired from teaching and Brian left the credit union industry. Together, they decided to pursue a business in something they loved, wine. They looked all over the state for a location or to purchase an existing winery. When they saw the property in Early, TX, they knew they had found the right place! It’s right on the highway and the only winery in Brown County. Their tag line is ‘Come Relax & UnWINEd with Us!’

Alderton worked at a drugstore in Waco, Texas, owned by Wade Morrison. Legend has it that Morrison named it “Dr. Pepper” after the father of a young girl he was once in love with.
